The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man and woman who died in a fire in a home in Ladysmith, on March 8, 2014.
The male was Herbert Charles Lainchbury, aged 56, and the female was Becky Ann Lafontaine, aged 46, both residents of the Ladysmith home.
At about 3:30 a.m. on March 8, 2014, a neighbour noticed flames coming from the home on Pictou Road in Ladysmith, and called 911. When the fire department arrived, the structure was fully involved. On extinguishing the fire, both occupants were found to be deceased inside the building.
The BC Coroners Service, RCMP and fire officials are continuing to investigate these deaths.
The families of both Mr. Lainchbury and Ms. Lafontaine are aware of their deaths. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
