The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a male who was died following an industrial accident at the Teck Coal Mountain mine near Sparwood on March 16, 2014.

He was Miles Bradley Lorenz, aged 59, of Coleman, Alberta, a community in southwest Alberta near the B.C. border.

Mr. Lorenz was a water truck driver and was filling his truck with water when he was impacted by frozen rock which fell from a separate vehicle. He was transported to hospital in Blairmore, Alberta, but he could not be resuscitated.

The BC Coroners Service, the provincial Inspector of Mines and the RCMP continue to investigate this death.

The family of Mr. Lorenz has been notified of his death. On behalf of the family, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
