The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died after a motor vehicle incident near Merritt on March 21, 2014.

He was Lorne Joseph Gallop, aged 66, of Richmond.  

Mr. Gallop was the driver and sole occupant of a pickup truck which left the highway and rolled into a ditch off Highway 5 south of Merritt in the early morning hours of March 21. Road and weather conditions were noted to be poor at the time of the crash. Mr. Gallop was deceased at the scene.  

The BC Coroners Service and RCMP Traffic Services continue to investigate this death.

Mr. Gallop’s family has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
