The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died after being struck by a vehicle in Powell River on March 17, 2014.

He was Donald John Skonberg, aged 61, from Powell River.

Mr. Skonberg was struck by a vehicle while he was attempting to cross Joyce Avenue between Barnet and Burnaby Streets at about 3 p.m. on March 17, 2014. He was transported by ambulance to hospital in Powell River and was then taken by air to Vancouver General Hospital for further treatment, but succumbed to his injuries late on March 19, 2014.

The BC Coroners Service and Powell River RCMP continue to investigate this incident.

The family of Mr. Skonberg has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
