The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a woman who died in hospital on April 12, 2014, after being involved in an avalanche incident near Golden the previous day.
The woman is Eleanor Pryor Booher, aged 45, from Leavenworth, Washington, USA.
Ms. Booher was back country skiing as part of a tour group near the Gothics Glacier when she was buried by an avalanche.
Ms. Booher was located via beacon search and probes, and dug out. Resuscitation was undertaken at the scene. She was flown to hospital in Golden and then transferred to Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary, Alberta where she died early the next day.
The BC Coroners Service continues to investigate the death of Ms. Booher.
The family of Ms. Booher has been notified of her death. On behalf of the family, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
