The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died in a boating incident in Malaspina Strait near Texada Island on April 26, 2014.

He is Jordan Patrick Beaudoin, aged 38, from Sechelt.

Mr. Beaudoin and another person had embarked on a fishing trip in a 16-foot open boat about noon on April 26, 2014. Several hours later the boat sank after the pair ran into rough weather and water. The other person was eventually able to make it to shore and find a cabin from which help was summoned.

A search-and-rescue operation began about noon on April 27, 2014, and at about 2 p.m., Mr. Beaudoin was found, deceased, at the waterline on the east side of Texada Island.

The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate this death.

The family of Mr. Beaudoin has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
