The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a female who was found deceased on the shore of the Columbia River in Trail on April 18, 2014.

She was Elena William Popoff, aged 64, of Slocan Park.

Ms. Popoff had been reported missing by family members on April 17, 2014. The next morning she was found deceased in a shallow shore area of the Columbia River approximately one kilometre from the airport.  

The BC Coroners Service continues to investigate this death. Foul play has now been ruled out.

The family of Ms. Popoff has been notified of her death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
