The BC Coroners Service has confirmed that a skull found in a storage shed on a residential Esquimalt property earlier this month is historical in nature, and not from any recent death.
On May 14, 2014, new tenants at a home on Lampson Street in Esquimalt were clearing out a storage shed on the property when they came upon a human skull in a plastic bag. They turned it over to Victoria Police who, in turn, contacted the BC Coroners Service.
The Identification and Disaster Response Unit of the BC Coroners Service now has completed an anthropological analysis and has confirmed that the skull is historical, is of no forensic interest, and was probably previously used in the teaching of anatomy.
