The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died in a motor vehicle incident on the Malahat Drive on July 7, 2014.

He is Gerald Ernest Loiselle, aged 64, of Victoria.

Mr. Loiselle was the operator of a motorcycle that, while travelling southbound on the TransCanada Highway on the afternoon of July 7, 2014, at the intersection with South Shawnigan Lake Road, was struck by a vehicle making a left hand turn onto the highway. Mr. Loiselle was transported to Victoria General Hospital, but was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival there.

The BC Coroners Service and RCMP Traffic Services continue to investigate this death.

The family of Mr. Loiselle has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
