The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died following a boating incident on Shuswap Lake on Aug. 24, 2013, but whose body was recovered on July 10, 2014.
He is Kevin William Boutilier, aged 25, from Calgary, Alberta.
On Aug. 24, 2013, Mr. Boutilier and some friends were aboard a houseboat on Shuswap Lake. Mr. Boutilier and several others jumped into the lake to retrieve a hat which had fallen in, but weather conditions caused the boat to drift away from the group. Even with help from his friends, Mr. Boutilier was unable to return to the boat.
An extensive search at the time was unsuccessful in recovering Mr. Boutilier’s body.
This month, the private recovery service, Ralston and Associates, resumed the search and on July 10, was successful in its recovery efforts.
