The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a woman who died following an incident on Burnell-Sawmill Lake near Oliver on June 7, 2014.
She is Grace Marie Capot-Blanc, aged 54, from Penticton.
Ms. Capot-Blanc was camping at the recreational site at Burnell-Sawmill Lake, about 10 km northwest of Oliver, on the night of June 6-7, 2014.
Shortly after 2 a.m. other campers heard the sound of someone in trouble in the water. They called emergency services, and RCMP discovered Ms. Capot-Blanc in the water about 10 metres from the southwest shore of the lake. The RCMP were able to bring Ms. Capot-Blanc to shore; however, she was deceased at the scene.
The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate this death. Foul play has now been ruled out in this case.
