The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a youth who died following a longboarding incident in Vernon on July 13, 2014.
He is Christopher Mathew Mitchell, aged 17, of Vernon.
Christopher was longboarding northbound on 39th Street in Vernon at about 11 p.m. on July 13, 2014 when he was in collision with an eastbound minivan at Okanagan Avenue.
He was transported by ambulance to hospital in Vernon, but could not be resuscitated.
The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate this death.
Christopher’s family has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
