The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died after a motor vehicle incident on the Rogers Pass on July 16, 2014.
He is John Alexander MacFarlane, aged 61, of High River, Alberta, a community about 35 kilometers south of Calgary.
Mr. MacFarlane was the operator of a motorcycle heading eastbound on the Trans Canada Highway through the Rogers Pass about 73 km west of Golden. At about 7:20 a.m. on July 16, 2014, he lost control of the motorcycle which hit a median and then a pillar supporting the structure of the Tupper Tunnel / snowshed. He was deceased at the scene.
The BC Coroners Service and RCMP Traffic Services continue to investigate this death.
Mr. MacFarlane’s family has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
