The BC Coroners Service has confirmed it is continuing its investigation into the unexpected death of a young man at the Pemberton Music Festival.
He was Nicholas Phongsavath, aged 21, of Regina, Saskatchewan.
Investigation by the BC Coroners Service and police now has ruled out foul play and confirmed that no other persons were involved in the death.
Additional testing is being undertaken by the BC Coroners Service to confirm both the cause and manner of Mr. Phongsavath’s death and to identify any contributory factors. The BC Coroners Service confirms there is no risk to the public related to the death.
Mr. Phongsavath was found unresponsive in his tent at the music festival camp about 6 p.m. on July 18. Despite efforts of emergency personnel, he could not be resuscitated.
Mr. Phongsavath’s family have been made aware of his death. On behalf of the family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
