The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of two persons who died after a motor vehicle incident near Revelstoke on July 20, 2014.
They are Lai Hing Wong, aged 74, and her husband, Tang Sing Ling, aged 75, both from Burnaby.
Mr. Ling was the driver of, and Ms. Wong a rear-seat passenger in, a minivan that was travelling eastbound on the TransCanada Highway about 2:30 p.m. on July 20, 2014. About seven kilometres west of Revelstoke, the minivan was involved in a single-vehicle incident in which it went off the highway to the left and hit a large dirt embankment.
Ms. Wong was deceased at the scene. Mr. Ling was flown by air ambulance to Kelowna General Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries there the next day.
The BC Coroners Service and RCMP Traffic Services continue to investigate these deaths.
The family of Ms. Wong and Mr. Ling has been notified of their deaths. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
