The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died after a motor vehicle incident near Merritt on July 25, 2014.

He is William John Jones, aged 75, of Merritt.

Mr. Jones was the driver of a pickup truck which was proceeding westbound on Highway97C about 3:40 p.m. on July 25, 2014, when about 1.5 kilometres east of Loon Lake, it impacted the rear of a transport truck with two trailers, which was also proceeding westbound. Mr. Jones was evacuated to Kelowna General Hospital, but died shortly after arrival there.

The BC Coroners Service and RCMP Traffic Services continue to investigate this death.

Mr. Jones’s family has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
