The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died following a bridge-jumping incident near Revelstoke on July 30, 2014.
He was Kody Skye Greveling, aged 28, from Coldstream, a community in the North Okanagan.
Mr. Greveling was with a group of friends at the Laforme Creek Bridge about 20 km north of Revelstoke on the early evening of July 30. Mr. Greveling jumped from the bridge deck about 25 metres into the water, but on one such jump, he failed to resurface. An immediate search by his companions and emergency services personnel was unsuccessful.
The next day, Mr. Greveling was located with the aid of an RCMP underwater camera, about 20 metres from shore in about 12 metres of water, and recovery was successfully completed.
The Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate this death.
The family of Mr. Greveling has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the Coroners Service requests that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
