The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a male who was found deceased in Victoria on Aug. 16, 2014.

He was David Gerald Omness, aged 48, of no fixed address.

Mr. Omness was found by a passerby, deceased, in a protected clearing in a heavy brush area near the northwest corner of Beacon Hill Park at about 8:15 a.m. on Aug. 16. He is believed to have been dead for about two weeks.

The BC Coroners Service and Victoria city police continue to investigate this death. Foul play has now been ruled out.

The family of Mr. Omness has been notified of his death. On behalf of the family, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
