The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died following an incident at the Redstone rodeo near Alexis Creek on Aug. 17, 2014.
He was Jason Lyle Coutlee, aged 44, of Merritt.
Mr. Coutlee was riding in the mountain race at the Redstone rodeo on the afternoon of Aug. 17 when he fell from his horse. He was immediately taken to the medical clinic at Alexis Creek where it was determined he needed a more-advanced level of medical care. He was being transported by helicopter to Kelowna General Hospital, but died before reaching the hospital.
The BC Coroners Service continues to investigate this death.
The family of Mr. Coutlee has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
