The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died following a boating incident on Shuswap Lake near Sicamous on Aug. 16, 2014.
He is Darryl John Johnston, aged 50, from Calgary, Alberta.
Mr. Johnston was operating a 35-foot cabin cruiser on Shuswap Lake when, at about 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 16, the boat crashed into a rock face, throwing Mr. Johnston into the water. An RCMP dive team completed recovery from about six metres of water at Hungry Cove on Shuswap Lake on the morning of Aug. 18.
The Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate this death.
The family of Mr. Johnston has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service requests that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
