The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a female who was found deceased in Mission on May 12, 2014.

She was Laura Pesek, aged 50, of Mission.

Ms. Pesek went missing on the morning of May 4, 2013, after leaving her home for an apparent trip to a store about two kilometres away. A search and public appeal at the time were not successful.

On May 12, forestry workers located skeletal remains in a heavily wooded area near Hayward Lake in Mission. Testing conducted through the BC Coroners Service Identification and Disaster Response Unit has now confirmed the identity as being Ms. Pesek.

The BC Coroners Service continues to investigate this death. Foul play has now been ruled out.

The family of Ms. Pesek has been notified of her death. On behalf of the family, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
