The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died after a motor vehicle incident near Cranbrook on Oct. 11, 2014.
He was Jeffery Harold Bonnell, aged 44, of Cranbrook.
Mr. Bonnell was the driver and sole occupant of a pickup truck which was heading eastbound on Highway 3/93 shortly before 6 a.m. on Oct. 11 when, about 35 kilometres east of Cranbrook, the truck struck a cow on the highway. As a result, the pickup went out of control, struck an oncoming semi-trailer unit and overturned. Mr. Bonnell was deceased at the scene of the incident. The cow was also killed as a result of the crash.
The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate this death.
The family of Mr. Bonnell has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
