The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a child who died on Nov. 30, 2014 following a fire in a home in Nanaimo the previous day.
He was Dominik Ambrose David Billy, aged seven, from Nanaimo.
At about 3 a.m. on Nov. 29, family members of Dominik awoke to the presence of smoke and fire in their second-storey apartment on Albert Street in Nanaimo. He was taken immediately to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital and then transferred by hovercraft to BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver.
However, he died at Children’s Hospital on the morning of Nov. 30.
