The BC Coroners Service has announced that a public inquest will be held into the death of Gregory Douglas Lloyd.
The inquest will take place beginning Feb. 10, 2015, at the Coroners Court in Burnaby.
Mr. Lloyd aged 43, died in Vancouver General Hospital on Feb. 13, 2014, five days after having been found unresponsive in the back of a Vancouver Police Department prisoner transport wagon.
Presiding coroner Dr. Kelly Barnard and a jury will hear evidence from witnesses under oath to determine the facts surrounding this death. The jury will have the opportunity to make recommendations aimed at preventing deaths under similar circumstances.
An inquest is a formal process that allows for public presentation of evidence relating to a death.
