The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man and woman who died after a snowmobile incident near Nakusp on Dec. 14, 2014.
They were Calvin Leo White, aged 27, from Slocan Park, and Elise Lindberg Hansen, aged 29, from Winlaw, both communities in the West Kootenays.
Mr. White and Ms. Hansen were riding a long-track snowmobile on an unplowed forestry road near the Nakusp hot mineral springs on the evening of Dec. 14, 2014, when they collided with a tree that had fallen horizontally across the road. They were found by hikers in the area the next day. Both were deceased at the scene.
The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate this death.
The families of Mr. White and Ms. Hansen have been notified of their deaths. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
