Young people considering what skills they will need for tomorrow’s in-demand occupations will have an interactive, hands-on experience at WorkBC’s Find Your Fit tour stop at the Prince George Civic Centre Oct. 28-29, 2014.
Find Your Fit features a variety of activity stations - including welding, carpentry, accounting and more - offering youth a chance to try their hand at different skills. These youth, who are just beginning to think about potential careers, will be connected with WorkBC’s labour market information, tools and services. Parents, teachers and career counsellors may also benefit from the event as they look for ways to educate and support youth in their career exploration.
The provincewide tour will begin as a key component of the Regional LNG Energy Seminars on the following dates and locations:
- Nov. 4-5, 2014 - Fort St. John
- Nov. 9-10, 2014 - Terrace
- Nov.18-19, 2014 - Prince Rupert
- Dec. 16-17, 2014 - Squamish
- Jan. 13-14, 2015 - Nanaimo
- Feb. 3-4, 2015 - Kamloops
Dates and locations of the rest of the provincewide tour will be announced later this year.
Find Your Fit is part of B.C.’s Skills for Jobs Blueprint commitment to re-engineer education and deliver the skilled workforce B.C.’s growing economy needs. The program had its public debut in Vancouver in May when hundreds of students from throughout the province took part in exploring in-demand occupations at the International “LNG in BC Conference.”
