Young people considering what skills they will need for tomorrow’s in-demand occupations will have an interactive, hands-on experience at WorkBC’s Find Your Fit tour stop at the North Coast Convention Centre in Prince Rupert on Nov. 18-19.
Find Your Fit features a variety of interactive career exploration activity stations - including welding, carpentry, accounting and more - offering youth a chance to try their hand at different skills. These youth, who are just beginning to think about potential careers, will be connected with WorkBC’s labour market information, tools and services. Parents, teachers and career counsellors also may benefit from the event as they look for ways to educate and support youth in their career exploration.
The provincewide tour will continue as a key component of the Regional LNG Energy Seminars and school events on the following dates and locations:
Dec. 16-17, 2014 Squamish Regional LNG Energy Seminar
Jan. 13-14, 2015 Nanaimo Regional LNG Energy Seminar
Feb. 3-4, 2015 Kamloops Regional LNG Energy Seminar
Dates and locations of the rest of the provincewide tour will be announced later this year.
Find Your Fit is part of B.C.’s Skills for Jobs Blueprint commitment to re-engineer education and deliver the skilled workforce B.C.’s growing economy needs. Over 2,275 students took part in the tour at recent Regional Energy Seminars in Prince George, Fort St. John and Terrace and at a Find Your Fit school event in Burns Lake.
