Computer graphics professionals and students have an opportunity to network with world-renowned local and international film and television producers at a job fair on Friday and Saturday.
The job fair is part of SPARK [FWD] 2014, the premier annual visual effects and computer graphics (CG) event in Vancouver. Presented by the SPARK Computer Graphics Society and sponsored by the B.C. government, SPARK [FWD] fosters innovation within the visual effects and CG community and helps attract talent and companies to British Columbia.
SPARK [FWD] 2014 features a conference and film festival and is expected to attract over 1,000 delegates, from students to international decision-makers, executives, and professionals in the CG sector. The job fair at the Vancouver International Film Centre will offer attendees one-on-one time with representatives from 13 companies, including Industrial Light & Magic, the visual effects company started by George Lucas that has won dozens of Academy Awards; Vancouver's Nerd Corps Entertainment, one of Canada's largest animation studios; and Digital Domain, which has delivered innovative visuals for movies such as Iron Man 3, the Transformers series, and Titanic.
British Columbia is a key location for film and TV production in North America and a leading hub for digital animation and visual effects. In August, Vancouver will host SIGGRAPH 2014, an annual CG conference attended by tens of thousands of computer professionals.
