A $1.6-million renovation has transformed a former hotel in Vancouver into residences for 95 individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. A partnership between the Province and the City of Vancouver, the Biltmore Hotel at 395 Kingsway now provides interim apartments while more supportive housing is completed.
Provincial funding included $535,000 for safety and security upgrades and approximately $1.7 million for annual operating costs. The City of Vancouver provided $1.1 million for renovation work. Raincity Housing is managing the building and providing supports to tenants.

Seven buildings, with more than 600 apartments, are already open. The remaining buildings will open over the next two to three years.
