Mark those calendars! The questions Squamish has about liquefied natural gas (LNG) will be answered on the ground as the Province of British Columbia's LNG energy seminar makes a visit.
These events are being hosted throughout the province alongside WorkBC's Find Your Fit tour.
The seminar will stop in Squamish for two days, Dec. 16-17, at the CN Roundhouse & Conference Centre.
The event will follow a similar agenda as previous shows, with interactive displays and unique exhibits providing people with the information they need to be informed about energy and the science behind LNG. Science World British Columbia is featured and a special panel lead by the Chamber of Shipping will focus on marine transportation.
People of all ages are encouraged to attend and ask questions. Resources and information kits will be available, in addition to the events happening on-site.
There is no charge and access is open all day while the event is scheduled. Program details and registration can be found online at: www.LNGinBC.ca
Currently scheduled stops following the Squamish session include Nanaimo and Kamloops. Over 4,000 people have attended the seminars so far. The tour has visited Prince George, Fort St. John, Terrace and Prince Rupert.

Rich Coleman, Deputy Premier and Minister of Natural Gas Development -
"People across British Columbia are curious to know more about liquefied natural gas. These seminars provide an insightful, hands-on experience connecting everyone with the science and resources they need to understand our province's future in natural gas development and export."
Quick Facts:
- Natural gas is a by-product of decaying plant and animal matter left deep underground millions of years ago.
- Natural gas turns into a liquid when chilled to -162° Celsius.
- In liquid form, natural gas compresses, taking up 1/600th less space.
- Once compressed, LNG can be securely stored on a ship and safety transported overseas to markets.
