Premier Christy Clark has issued the following statement on the resignation of Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Kathy Dunderdale:
"I want to thank Premier Kathy Dunderdale for her years of dedicated public service and leadership.
"As the first woman ever elected premier of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Kathy worked to create more opportunities for the people of today and tomorrow. Many of those decisions were difficult, but nonetheless she had the courage to make them, knowing that they would ultimately make her province better.
"Around the premiers' table, Kathy always provided wise, honest counsel and a fierce determination to build Canada. I'm going to miss her presence there.
"Kathy served with honour, character and most of all, with the best interests of the people of Newfoundland and Labrador at the forefront of all her decisions. I wish Kathy the very best, and on behalf of all British Columbians, thank her for her service to our country. Because when Newfoundland and Labrador is stronger, all of Canada is stronger."
