Premier Christy Clark has released the following statement on Passover:
"Tonight, Jewish families throughout British Columbia will join together to recognize the beginning of Passover, which commemorates the resilience and freedom of their ancestors from slavery in ancient Egypt.
“This is especially poignant given the tragic events that took place yesterday in Kansas City. Acts of hate and anti-Semitism are not tolerated here, or anywhere else in the world. Our hearts and prayers go out to the families who lost loved ones.
"The Passover Festival is rich in tradition and has been passed down from generation to generation for thousands of years. These sacred customs continue as families join together and spend time with one another.
"It's also an opportunity to acknowledge the contributions B.C.'s Jewish community has made to our province. You have made British Columbia a better, stronger, more diverse place.
"Over the eight nights of Pesach, I wish all Jewish British Columbians 'Chag Sameach'."
