Mandate letters stressing key priorities, including the need to renew economic growth, secure long-lasting prosperity and welcome private-sector investment were issued to each cabinet minister today, announced Premier Christy Clark.

“Our government was given a clear mandate by British Columbians to build a strong economy and a secure tomorrow for future generations,” said Premier Clark. “Our plan to achieve that mandate is reinforced by the values of British Columbians, and will help our province continue to grow and prosper.”

Each minister has received a mandate letter that outlines ministry-specific priorities for the coming year. Priorities include controlling spending to balance ministerial budgets and the government budget, ensuring development opportunities are seized in the province where they make economic and environmental sense, and ensuring a common platform of compensation and accountability principles is implemented across the broader public sector.

“I’m proud of the accomplishments government has achieved in this past year,” said Premier Clark. “I would like to thank my colleagues for their leadership, and hard-working government staff for delivering priority programs and services within tight budgets. And I thank taxpayers for their patience and forbearance as we chart a course to renewed economic growth and prosperity in B.C.”

Premier Clark first issued ministry mandate letters on June 7, 2013. The mandate letters are designed to act as ongoing work plans for each ministry to be updated on an annual basis.
