Premier Christy Clark issued the following statement on the selection of Jim Prentice as leader of the Progressive Conservative Association of Alberta and Premier-designate of Alberta:

"My sincere congratulations to Jim Prentice on becoming Alberta’s next premier.

"I look forward to working towards our shared goals, particularly the continued reduction of internal trade barriers under the New West Partnership and across Canada.

"As the only province we share a border with, Alberta and B.C. have always enjoyed a close relationship. I am confident that will continue as we focus on job creation, economic growth, and protection of the environment."
