The B.C. government is working with the Town of Oliver on a project that includes resurfacing a 25-kilometre stretch of Highway 97 in 2015.
Highway 97 will be re-paved from Highway 3 in Osoyoos to Tucelnuit Drive, including the segment through the Town of Oliver. This resurfacing project will create a smoother and safer drive for commercial trucks, local drivers and tourists along this section of highway.
The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure is working in close partnership with the Town of Oliver on this paving project, which is in the early development stages. Advance planning will allow the Town to coordinate any additional work to municipal services that may be required prior to the paving through downtown.
The ministry will tender this project in spring 2015. The construction is anticipated to start in summer 2015 and be completed in fall 2015. As with all paving projects, the ministry will aim to minimize traffic delays during construction.
