The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure and Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen are partnering to build a pedestrian pathway next to Lakehill Road in Kaleden.
The two-kilometre paved pathway will run from Highway 97 to Ponderosa Avenue at the former Kaleden Hotel next to Skaha Lake. The walkway will provide a safe walking and cycling path between Highway 97 and the Lower Kaleden lakeshore, with its recreational amenities and access to the KVR Trail.
The $500,000 project budget will be a 50/50 cost share between the ministry and the Regional District. Lakehill Road is the main road in Kaleden, and the construction of the new walkway will provide a safe path for pedestrians, cyclists and those with mobility challenges.
Construction on the project will start later this summer, with completion expected in late fall.
