Bremner Foods, a family owned business that has been operating in the lower mainland for more than 30 years, is receiving $50,000 in Buy Local program funding.
Bremner’s motto is simple – Fresh, Pure, Premium. They will be using the funding to build consumer awareness of their products that are produced, processed and packaged right here in British Columbia. The buy local project will include an online marketing campaign, advertising, in-store demos and new branding.
The Bremner Foods story began in the 1980’s with a blueberry field in East Delta. Today, that one farm has grown to 80 acres. They are proud to produce bottled fruit juice with one ingredient – fruit. As Bremner’s says, “No water, no sugar, no apple or grape juice concentrate, no additives, just premium fruit picked at the peak of perfection.”
Bremner’s products can be found in more than 400 grocery, health and drug stores throughout B.C. and also at Wellbrook Winery that is located at Bremner’s farm, part of the Delta farm tour.
The Buy Local program has received $6 million in B.C. government funding since 2012 to increase sales of locally grown and processed agrifood and seafood products within the province.
Building the local market for B.C. foods is a key commitment of government's Agrifoods Strategy, a component of the BC Jobs Plan, to lead the agrifoods sector growth into a $14-billion-a-year industry by 2017.
The provincial government's Buy Local program is administered by the Investment Agriculture Foundation of British Columbia. Applications are available at: http://iafbc.ca/funding-opportunities/buy-local/
