Smoke and flames from the Dog Mountain and Old Sechelt Mine wildfires will continue to be visible within the fire perimeter.
The Dog Mountain fire is currently contained, while the Old Sechelt Mine fire is close to being contained.
Both of these fires are still active and are being closely monitored by the BC Wildfire Service.
Firefighting crews strategically used an indirect firefighting method on these two fires. Control lines were established around each fire by taking advantage of the natural terrain and then purposely burning off strips of land ahead of the fire. Once fully contained, the fire will continue to burn itself out within this perimeter as remaining forest fuels are consumed.
There are currently no other wildfires burning close to these two fires, although smoke from fires in the Interior and the Pemberton may also drift into the coastal region.
