On Aug. 17, 2015, the Wood Innovation Design Centre at 499 George St., will become the new home for the Prince George FrontCounter BC office. FrontCounter BC serves as a single contact for information regarding all licences, permits and registrations required to access Crown natural resources. FrontCounter BC offers individuals and businesses assistance with an estimated 100 applications administered by the province’s natural resource ministries.
FrontCounter BC also provides the ability for applicants to apply for a number of licences electronically, such as fish and wildlife permits, Crown land tenures and more recently, water act approvals. Applications can be accessed through www.frontcounterbc.gov.bc.ca. Assistance is also provided via telephone through a toll free number 1-877-855-3222.
The wood Innovation and Design Centre is an iconic state-of-the-art facility and an international showpiece highlighting B.C.’s expertise and global reputation as a leader in wood construction, products and design. WIDC is strengthening Prince George’s position as a hub for wood education, research and design by integrating operations, technology, research, arts and culture under one roof. WIDC is home to the University of Northern B.C.’s wood engineering programs, Emily Carr University of Art and Design and also contains the offices of the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations which manages forests, lands and water resources for the Omineca Region.
