The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a male who died following a motor vehicle incident near Valemount on Jan. 23, 2015.

He was Ewen Craig McDonald, aged 53, of Vernon.

Mr. McDonald was the driver of a southbound pickup truck which collided with a loaded semi-truck and trailer unit on Highway 5 about 18 kilometres north of Blue River at Bone Creek, shortly after 5 p.m. on Jan. 23. Mr. McDonald was deceased at the scene. Road conditions were noted to be poor with heavy slush at the time of the crash.

The BC Coroners Service and RCMP Traffic Services continue to investigate this death.

The family of Mr. McDonald has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
