The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a female who was found deceased near Kamloops on March 5, 2015.

She was Deseree Lazina Smith, aged 33, of Kamloops.

Ms. Smith had last been seen alive on Nov. 22, 2014. On March 5, 2015, a passerby spotted her in the Thomson River about three kilometres west of the airport. She was deceased at the scene.

The BC Coroners Service continues to investigate this death. Foul play has now been ruled out.

The family of Ms. Smith has been notified of her death. On behalf of the family, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
