The BC Coroners Service has announced new dates for the public inquest into the death of Gaetan Gilbert Plante.
The inquest, originally scheduled to commence on June 8, 2015, will now commence two weeks later on June 22. Scheduling issues have necessitated the change.
Mr. Plante, aged 61, died on Jan. 17, 2014, as the result of a police shooting following an interaction with the Surrey RCMP at about 10 p.m. that day.
Presiding coroner John Knox and a jury will hear evidence from witnesses under oath to determine the facts surrounding this death. The jury will have the opportunity to make recommendations aimed at preventing deaths under similar circumstances.
