The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a male who died following a motor vehicle incident near Smithers on April 4, 2015.  

He was Randy Basil Mitchell, aged 47, of Smithers.

Mr. Mitchell was a rear-seat passengers in a vehicle which left the highway and rolled on Highway 16 at Corya Creek in Moricetown, a small community about 30 kilometres west of Smithers, shortly after 2 p.m.. on April 4. Mr. Mitchell was deceased at the scene.

The BC Coroners Service and RCMP Traffic Services continue to investigate this death.

The family of Mr. Mitchell has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
