The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identities of two youths who died following a motor vehicle incident near McLeod Lake on April 3, 2015.

They were Leslie David Avery Jr., aged 17, and Ian Daryl Potvin, aged 16, both of Mackenzie.

Leslie Avery was the driver of, and Ian Potvin a passenger in, a car heading northbound on Highway 97 about 6:45 a.m. on April 3. About 200 metres north of Tudyah Lake Provincial Park, the car was in a collision with a southbound pickup truck hauling a flatbed trailer. Both youths were deceased at the scene.

The BC Coroners Service  and RCMP Traffic Services continue to investigate these deaths.

The families of the victims have been notified of these deaths. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
