The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a youth who died following a rock-climbing incident near Vernon on April 11, 2015.
He was Taylor Samuel Archer, aged 18, from New Westminster.
Taylor was hiking with friends in an area near the King Edward access logging road about 15 km east of Vernon. He and a companion went rock-climbing on a cliff face in the area on the afternoon of April 11. While traversing a rock face, Taylor fell about 12 metres to the rocky ground below. Despite the best efforts of his companions and emergency personnel, Taylor died at the scene.
The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate this death.
Taylor’s family has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service requests that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
