The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died following an interaction with police in Burnaby on March 29, 2015.
The man was Travis Rood, aged 35, a resident of Burnaby.
Mr. Rood sustained injuries during an encounter with Burnaby RCMP which occurred about 5:50 a.m. on March 29, in the 6100-block of 14th Avenue in Burnaby. Mr. Rood was transported immediately to Royal Columbian Hospital, but died there within a few hours.
The BC Coroners Service and the Independent Investigations Office (IIO) continue to investigate this death.
The family of Mr. Rood has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
