The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of three people who were killed in a motor vehicle incident which occurred on May 31, 2015, near Pemberton.
Mr. Kelly Blunden, aged 53 and Mr. Ross Chafe, aged 50, both from Whistler, were part of a cycling group travelling Southwest on Highway 99, approximately 5km Southwest of Joffre Lakes Provincial Park, when they were involved in a collision with a northbound motor vehicle.
Mr. Paul Maurice Pierre, Jr., aged 52, of the Lil’wat Nation, the only passenger in the motor vehicle, also suffered fatal injuries as a result of the collision.
The driver of the vehicle was transported to hospital.
The BC Coroners Service and Whistler RCMP continue to investigate these deaths.
The families of Mr. Blunden, Mr. Chafe and Mr. Pierre have been notified of their deaths. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
