The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died following an interaction with police in Dawson Creek on July 16, 2015.
The man is James Daniel McIntyre, aged 48, a resident of Dawson Creek.
Mr. McIntyre was shot during an encounter with Dawson Creek RCMP which occurred about 7:20 p.m. on July 16, in the parking lot of the Fixx Urban Grill restaurant in Dawson Creek. Mr. McIntyre was transported immediately to hospital in Dawson Creek, but died there shortly after arrival.
The BC Coroners Service and the Independent Investigations Office (IIO) continue to investigate this death.
The family of Mr. McIntyre has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
