The BC Coroners Service has been able to identify a male who was found deceased in Victoria more than 20 years ago.
He was Kenneth William Boseley, who was 35 when he died in October 1994.
At the time of his death, Mr. Boseley could not be identified, and subsequent attempts at genetic and other forms of identification were not successful.
During a routine review of unidentified human remains cases, the BC Coroners Service Identification and Disaster Response Unit (IDRU) noted this case as one where identification might be possible, and requested assistance from the RCMP’s Missing Persons Centre, Unidentified Human Remains Unit.
With help from this unit and the Victoria Police Department’s records section, the identification was confirmed. The BC Coroners Service wishes to offer special thanks to the BC Police Missing Persons Unit, and the Victoria Police Department for their help with this case.
The family of Mr. Boseley has been notified of his death. On behalf of the family, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
