The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died following an encounter with police in Burnaby on Aug. 13, 2015.

The man is Myles Thomas Gray, aged 33, of Sechelt.

Mr. Gray had contact with several members of the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) at the 8300 block of Joffre Avenue in Burnaby. He became unresponsive during the ensuing interaction, the circumstances of which remain under investigation. Paramedics were unable to resuscitate Mr. Gray, and he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Coroners Service and the Independent Investigations Office (IIO) continue to investigate this death.

The family of Mr. Gray has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
